Seminar: “Regional responses to global challenges”
Montevideo, Uruguay –July 14, 2010- on July 22, in the city of Paramaribo, Suriname, ARPEL will hold the Seminar “Regional responses to global challenges”, hosted by STAATSOLIE MAATSCHAPPIJ SURINAME N.V. (STAATSOLIE).
STAATSOLIE decided to organize this Seminar jointly with ARPEL, with the objective to analyze the responses of the regional energy sector to the main challenges that humanity is facing, focusing on climate change and energy sources diversification.
Additionally, the Seminar is part of a series of activities that STAATSOLIE is organizing to celebrate the 30st Anniversary of the Company, founded on December 13, 1980. It is a great honor for ARPEL to participate in this event and join STAATSOLIE on its celebrations.
The Seminar will take place on Thursday, July 22, in the city of Paramaribo, and will count with the presence and speakers from Suriname Government, as well as executives and upper managers from the main oil and gas companies in the region.

Seminar: Interculturalism and the Oil & Gas Industry in Latin America & the Caribbean
On May 23-25 in the city of Cartagena was held the Seminar on Interculturalism and the Oil & Gas Industry in Latin America & the Caribbean
The Seminar was organized by ARPEL with the support of and counted with the participation of oil & gas companies, mining companies, as well as government representatives, international organizations, universities and NGOs.
The event was developed in two days that counted with conferences, panels and break out sessions. They were focused in different topics related to interculturalism and inter-company relations, interculturalism and social management, human rights and sustainable development, Experiences were presented on the topic of intercompany relations and also on business and community relations in Latin America & the Caribbean by the players involved in them.

NEW ENERGY AGENDA IN LATIN AMERICA & THE CARIBBEAN
ARPEL organized the Third Workshop for the development of a Regional Energy Agenda for the Industry. The topic was the Affirmation of the Scenarios defined during the 2nd Workshop. It was held on May 27-28, 2010 with the support of ECOPETROL S.A in Bogota and managed by PFC Energy Consultants. The idea of a regional energy agenda started to develop at the ARPEL 2009 Conference in Punta del Este, Uruguay. In that occasion, the ARPEL Board of Directors and Committees worked on a strategic analysis of the impact that the global financial crisis had on the industry in the region and of key issues such as energy security, energy efficiency, energy poverty and environmental and social sustainability.
