Meeting between Oil and Automotive Industries
December, 2011 –Last 30th November, ARPEL and Petrobras organized the Third Meeting between the Oil and Automotive Industries. The meetings objective was to continue strengthening a technical debate forum among the parties involved, on the current and future regulations of local and regional fuel specifications.
The event took place in Sao Paulo, with the collaboration of the Brazilian Automotive Engineering Association (AEA) and aimed at continuing strengthening a technical debate forum among the parties involved, on the existing and future regulations of local and regional fuel specifications, which have a great impact on the automotive companies and oil refineries, and to facilitate the agreement in its implementation.
Unlike previous meetings between both industries (conducted in 2004 and 2006) which limited the scope of the discussion and call to Argentina and Brazil, this time the scope was broadened, including the whole of Latin America and the Caribbean, and gathered regulators and other institutions related to fuel specifications in the region.
The two key subjects of the Meeting were the alignment of diesel sulfur limits between neighboring countries and securing supplies of urea to the P7 (Euro V) vehicle transportation across borders, and the increase in the percentage of biodiesel in diesel blend, ensuring the proper and safe operation of vehicles.
