ARPEL PARTICIPATED IN WORKSHOPS ON MANAGEMENT OF CONTROL ROOMS AND OPERATIONAL RISKS AT RIO PIPELINE 2019
ARPEL participated in the last edition of Rio Pipeline, which was held September 3 - 5 in Brazil, and took part in two workshops.
The first workshop was on management of control rooms, where Adrián Mérida, Manager of Operations and Maintenance of OLDELVAL and Leader of ARPEL Project Team for Management of Control Rooms (EPCOD), presented the work being done by the group, in particular ARPEL Guidelines for Management of Pipelines and Terminal Control Rooms launched this year.
This workshop was moderated by Rafael Noac, General Manager of Logistics and Integrated Control of Transpetro. It also included a presentation by Eduardo Merҫon, Operations Manager of the National Center for Control and Logistics of Transpetro and member of EPCOD.
Operational risks was the subject of the second workshop, where the Downstream Director of ARPEL, Irene Alfaro, gave a lecture on the importance of the problem of illegal taps and the actions taken by ARPEL to help its member companies to address the problem, in particular through the Project Team for Illegal Taps, ARPEL Guidelines on Repairing Illegal Taps and the Workshop on Third-Party Damage to Pipelines and Illegal Taps, which ARPEL will hold October 22-23 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, and will bring together all stakeholders, both operators and suppliers.
Finally, within the framework of Rio Pipeline 2019, ARPEL Pipelines and Terminal Committee held a meeting at Transpetro offices in order to assess the accomplishments of each project team this year and agree on the work plan for 2020.
