ARPEL participated in the XIV Conference of the Latin American Society of Oil Marine Terminal and Monobuoy Operators (SLOM) that was held October 3-5 in Quito, Ecuador.

The Downstream Director of ARPEL, Irene Alfaro, who leads the Pipelines and Terminal Committee of the Association, participated in the opening session and made a brief address on the importance of organizing this event and working hard in order to improve the operations and management standards of the industry in the region.

In the framework of this prestigious activity, the Vice President of the organization, Francisco Barreto, presented a diploma of recognition for the support of the Association to the organization of the XIV SLOM Conference.

The event was attended by more than 200 representatives from 22 countries. During the three days, 31 technical papers were presented, and three workshops were conducted.

Prior to the start of the XIV SLOM Conference, the second edition of the Regional Maritime Forum of South and Central America, organized by OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) took place.

SLOM has been organizing the Oil Marine Terminal and Monobuoy Operators Conference every year since 2005; the main objective of this event is to share experiences and knowledge in the operation and maintenance of oil marine terminals for safer, more efficient and competitive oil ports.
