Equión Energía: Pedestrian path for protection of life

  • In line with their corporate social responsibility values, the safety of neighbors is one of the highest priorities of Asociación Piedemonte and its companies Equión Energía (operator) and Ecopetrol S.A. This was evidenced by the inauguration of a pedestrian path and a bridge in La Vega, in the town of El Morro, Yopal municipality, Casanare, Colombia, last Sunday, June 7.

Tens of families residing in La Vega and Equión employees attended the event, where a 1,200-meter long pedestrian path was inaugurated amidst the joy of the community and in the framework of several activities, such as the celebration of the Eucharist and a guided tour along the path.

The use of this pedestrian path by locals will considerably decrease the risk of walking along the way connecting bridge La Cabuya with the town of El Morro, which is the destination of  heavy traffic related to the operations of the fields of Floreña and Pauto.

Over 428 million pesos were invested in this work, which comprises the construction of a 1,200-meter long and one-meter wide cobblestone walkway, the installation of precast curbstone, reinforced concrete slab, pipe railing and metal grates. Additionally, a 20-meter long and 1,20-meter wide bridge was installed over La Vegana ravine for easy access over this source of water.

“The purpose of this construction is to contribute to the integrity of the children who walk daily through this area toward the local school, and, in general, of all pedestrians and users of this way", statedAlexander Villalobos, Head of External Relations of Equión.

With just over one kilometer, the new path synthesizes the compliance of the oil industry with social commitments, and its visible contribution to regional progress.
