Innovarpel 2025 and the celebration of Arpel's 60th anniversary will be held on June 24 and 25 in Rio de Janeiro, where the Association was founded in 1965.

Rio de Janeiro will host the 60th anniversary celebration of the Association of Oil, Gas, and Renewable Energy Companies of Latin America and the Caribbean (Arpel), an organization founded in 1965 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by eight state-owned oil companies: ANCAP, PDVSA, ECOPETROL, ENAP, PETROPERÚ, PETROBRAS, YPF, and YPFB.

Thanks to the collaborative spirit of its members, Arpel has grown since then, incorporating more national oil companies, international oil companies, regional independent companies, suppliers, and service providers.

The 60th anniversary celebration, which will take place on June 25 at the Hilton Copacabana Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, will feature a distinguished panel of guests including PETROBRAS, ANCAP, and GEOPARK, as well as representatives of renowned national and international energy sector organizations such as IBP of Brazil, WPC, Ipieca, and SPE.

“Arpel was created as a vehicle of cooperation and reciprocal assistance among sector companies, with the main purpose of actively contributing to integration and sustainable energy development in the region. We have been promoting operational excellence and positive socio-environmental impact for 60 years. Today, we are also driving the sector's evolution within a dynamic of plural, just, and inclusive energy transitions,” said Carlos Garibaldi, Executive Secretary of Arpel.

Garibaldi stated: “The hydrocarbon sector is an agent of necessary change through the decarbonization of our operations, processes, and facilities, and the diversification of our energy product portfolios by incorporating renewable energy. The goal is to offer more energy with fewer emissions. To accelerate these efforts, our digital transformation is essential.”

Regarding Artificial Intelligence in the oil and gas sector, Garibaldi noted that “it is proving to be a facilitator and catalyst for innovation and technological development that will allow us to offer more energy with fewer emissions. AI has the potential to improve our industry by enhancing seismic interpretation and integrated modeling, and decarbonizing exploration, development, drilling, completion, production, refining, and marketing.”

Innovarpel 2025, technical days on Digital Transformation and Industrial Cybersecurity

In conjunction with the celebration of Arpel's 60th anniversary, the second edition of Innovarpel, a technical event on Digital Transformation and Industrial Cybersecurity, will be held on June 24 and 25 at the Hilton Copacabana Hotel.

Preparing companies and their teams to successfully face the changes associated with digital transformation will be one of the major topics addressed at these two technical days, designed to facilitate knowledge exchange on the implementation of digital technologies in the sector.

Artificial Intelligence and Automation in Decision-Making; Digital Transformation and Operational Efficiency; Industrial Cybersecurity in the Digital Era; Sustainability, Energy Transitions and Decarbonization; and Culture, Innovation, and Agility will be the main themes of Innovarpel 2025.

“We believe it is essential to bring the regional oil and gas industry together again to discuss how to implement the most advanced technologies in our facilities,” said Tiphaine Le Moënner, Managing Director of Arpel and coordinator of the Innovarpel 2025 technical agenda. She added that the use of Artificial Intelligence in the oil and gas industry will improve efficiency and operational excellence, but its implementation entails many challenges.
