Arpel presents the report “Opportunities for the Development of Gas in Latin America and the Caribbean,” jointly developed with the International Gas Union (IGU) and the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE).
The report provides a broad perspective on the opportunities offered by natural gas to contribute to greater energy security, regional integration and socioeconomic growth, as well as on the conditions needed to advance its development.
One of its key messages is that natural gas is a proven energy resource in the region that can complement both oil and renewable energy, contributing to the energy transition and to the development of more secure, reliable and competitive energy systems.
At the same time, the report identifies the need to strengthen regional cooperation, establish stable and predictable regulatory frameworks, and develop the necessary infrastructure investments to fully harness this potential.
The report is available for download to both Arpel members and non-members, in Spanish and English.
