ARPEL INCORPORATES THE EXPERT IN ENERGY TRANSITIONS, ELENA MORETTINI

  • In the middle of the year, ARPEL incorporated the expert Elena Morettini as Advisor in Energy Transitions Strategies and Management.

The main objective of this important incorporation is to support the development of the Association's activities and services in the region in order to facilitate and promote strategies and management of energy transitions that support the growth and sustainability of our members.

Promote knowledge of the concept "energy transitions" among companies in the sector; facilitate the relationship with the main interest groups linked to initiatives related to this topic, with particular attention to those focused on methane emissions, carbon capture and storage, and energy efficiency.

As PhD Chief Development Geologist and Geoscience Advisor for the Oil and Gas industry, Morettini has been leading multidisciplinary geoscience teams, rethinking and optimizing clastic and carbonate reservoirs across the world, to unlock remaining hydrocarbons and allow incremental production and reserves.

Main tasks have been project and portfolio management and optimization, reservoir characterization and modelling, field development and financial planning of both conventional and unconventional plays.

During her 20 year-long career in the Upstream sector with Shell, Fugro Robertson, Badley Ashton and YPF, in the Middle East, Mediterranean, North America and South American oil provinces, Morettini has participated to the field development planning of giant fields such as BuHasa, Asab, Fahud, North Pars, Zhakum.

During her years in Shell E&P Research Centre and in YPF, Elena has developed recognised methodologies to characterise fractured fields in Oman, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Argentina.

During the past 2 years, as B20-YPF Officer and Energy Transitions Expert, Morettini has been working on Energy Transitions, Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency, Resource Efficiency, Circular Economy and Climate Change, focussing on methane emissions on behalf of YPF.

During 2018, she acted as B20 Task Force Energy, Resource Efficiency and Sustainability coordinator. The Task Force included 130 energy companies world-wide and provided the 2018 G20 group of governments, with actionable recommendations on Energy Transitions.

Elena is Vice-Chair for the European Union “Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Energy and Environment” academia-industry programme.
