ARPEL launches the updated version of the Social Responsibility Management System

  • In August 2016, the Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL), published the updated version of its Corporate Social Responsibility Management System.

This Management System and its supporting documents provide companies with guidelines to adopt a holistic paradigm of Corporate Social Responsibility, including cultural, environmental and social factors. The ARPEL CSR Management System provides a conceptual and practical guidance and relies in a family of interconnected documents –frameworks, thematic manuals and tools– that facilitate the introduction, implementation and training in the Management System. The word “family” is used deliberately to show that the documents together or each document separately, can be used to obtain guidance about the System aspects.

The ARPEL CSR Management System is an international reference and is the only management system on the topic specifically written for the hydrocarbons industry. The elaboration of the document counted with the actively participation of the ARPEL Social Responsibility Committee, a permanent working group on the topic composed by professionals of the leading oil companies in the region. This update replaces the first edition published in 2011 under the framework of the ARPEL-CIDA project and represents another milestone for the sustainability of the industry. The documents can be downloaded by accessing the following link https://arpel.org/library/publication/467/

With the purpose to help companies in its implementation, and improve the performance standards of the industry in terms of social and sustainability management, ARPEL provides face-to-face and in-company courses based on the documents, as well as direct technical assistance for the implementation of the management system.
