ARPEL PRESENT AT THE MEETING ON "COMPLIANCE" IN THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR

  • In early May, ARPEL participated in a meeting on "Compliance," which was held in the Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas (IAPG).

The meeting called "Initiative of the O&G industry to promote integrity and fight against corruption," was attended by the Executive Secretary of the Association, Mr. Izeusse Braga, and the Project Manager and Coordinator of the Virtual Platform Innov@arpel, Ms. Tiphaine Le Moenner.

During this important meeting, ARPEL presented its view on the subject and its proposal to address actions in the future that could contribute to restore the reputation of the oil and gas industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, in view of the events that, in recent years, have caused significant losses to our industry.

This proposal is based on the application of a methodology developed by companies and business schools from all continents that worked together during one year, with the support of the office of the United Nations Global Compact and of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) for the emergence of a new generation of "business leaders" who learn the importance of placing ethics at the forefront of all their decisions and acting as "corporate statesmen", thus becoming known as "globally responsible leaders".

The aim of ARPEL is to make the work on "compliance" done in Brazil with the coordination of the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP) and the participation of oil and gas companies operating in the country (many of them ARPEL members) gain regional dimension and attract national institutes and associations, such as the IAPG itself, an ARPEL member, and companies, universities and business schools in the region to discuss and implement rules and behaviors that are consistent with the importance of our industry for the sustainable future of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In the platform Innov@arpel, there is a special forum for this topic under the name "Compliance Committee." Link to the forum: https://innovarpel.org/forum/forum/foro-de-innovarpel-1/topic/compliance-committee-54/
