Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) Pipelines and Terminals Committee promoted the third cross-check of terminals, which took place on the last 26, 27 and 28 May in YPFB Arica Terminal.
The evaluation on Chilean lands was led by the company Ocensa and involved the participation of experts of Pluspetrol, Petrobras and Ancap as assessment observers.
ARPEL has fostered cross-checks since 2013 with the goal of promoting the exchange among professionals of the member companies and identifying improvement opportunities in terminals operation. Likewise, it seeks for the consolidation of a regional group of experts in terminals operation capable of identifying, sharing and disseminating the best practices.
The cross-checks consist of the application of the ARPEL reference Manual for terminals operational management to company´s facilities by professionals of other firms. The main objective is to identify gaps, opportunities and recommendations of improvement in a collaborative and enriching environment for all participants.
Similarly, they also belong to ongoing improvement process of the Manual, which will have its second updated edition in late 2014.
The fourth evaluation will take place in August in the Coveñas Terminal of the Colombian company Ocensa and will be led by YPFB professionals. Moreover, ARPEL has arranged a fith cross-assessment for early 2015 in Balao Terminal of EP Petroecuador.
