EXPERTS FROM OCENSA, YPFB TRANSPORTE AND TRANSPETRO EXCHANGED KNOWLEDGE AT THE COVEÑAS TERMINAL

  • The Pipelines and Terminals Committee of the Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) promoted the implementation of the fourth cross check of terminals, which was carried out at the Coveñas Terminal of the Colombian company Ocensa.

The evaluation was led by professionals from YPFB Transporte and involved the participation of a team of observers from Transpetro.

The Supervisor of Health, Safety, Environment and Social Services (SSMS) of YPFB Transporte, Eusebio Eduardo Aguirre Díaz, stated that this is an activity that adds great value because one "learns technologies, automated systems and, especially in my case, health, safety and environment systems, where one feels and sees the safety and the prevention in the different areas of work"

ARPEL has fostered the implementation of cross checks since 2013 with the purpose of promoting the exchange among professionals of member companies and identifying opportunities for improvement in the operation of terminals. It also seeks to consolidate a regional group of experts in terminals operations, who can identify, share and disseminate best practices.

Cross checks consist in the application of ARPEL Reference Manual for Terminals Operational Management to the facilities of one company by professionals from other companies. The main objective is to identify gaps, opportunities and recommendations for improvement, in a collaborative exchange and enriching environment for all participants.

The next cross check is scheduled for early 2015 at the Balao Terminal of EP Petroecuador.
