NEW BENCHMARKING REPORTS ON SAFETY AND PROCESS SAFETY INCIDENTS OF ARPEL MEMBER COMPANIES

  • Recent benchmarking reports with 2018 statistics are available at the website of the Association to professionals from ARPEL member companies: Benchmarking Report on Safety and Benchmarking Report on Process Safety Incidents in the Oil and Gas in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The first document is developed every year. It is a compilation of safety and incident statistics of ARPEL member companies.

The report analyzes four reactive indicators: total incidents, severity, frequency of incidents with days lost and fatalities; and two of proactive indicators: safety training and planned task observations.

The data are open by line of business (E&P, refining, pipelines, distribution, and others) and by category (companies and contractors), including, in addition, historical data for the last five years.

For this report, 18 companies reported their data and an overall total of 1,274 million hours worked.

Members can view the full report at: https://arpel.org/library/publication/514/

On the other hand, the Benchmarking Report on Process Safety Incidents, also an annual comparative exercise among member companies, aims to improve the performance and management of oil and gas companies on the basis of the measurement of indicators of process incidents, the establishment of benchmarks, and gap closure.

Reported indicators take as main references the API Recommended Practice 754, its reporting guide v3.0, and the CCPS Process Safety Leading and Lagging Metrics.

For 2018, 13 member companies from 11 countries provided their data, totaling 498 million hours worked.

The information is presented by business line (E&P, refining, pipelines and distribution), activity, released material and consequences.

The full report may be accessed at: https://arpel.org/library/publication/513/
