LAC countries provide significant opportunities for CDM project investments. So far, several CDM project opportunities have been identified in LAC. These include areas such as energy; energy efficiency; energy management; renewable energy generation; renewable energy training; fuel switching; land-use change and forestry including carbon sinks; fugitive gas capture and in particular methane from landfills and coal mining; industrial process control; agriculture; and water, waste water and waste disposal. Brazil is by far the Latin American country with the largest portfolio of CDM projects. A variety of other Latin American countries have CDM projects in the pipeline including Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico.

The report is organized alphabetically by country and is associated to a database with all CDM projects identified in each country and for each sector, including the status of the project. The Report and the database represent an important source of information for several stakeholders involved in CDM and other GHG emissions reduction crediting projects.
