Small refineries in Latin America and Caribbean will face severechallenges to remain economically viable attending the newspecifications demands. They usually have a small complexity, and alack of hydrotreating capacity for sulfur removal from diesel oil andgasoline mainly, and a significant amount of investment will be neededin order to adapt them to a high fuels quality scenario in the future.This report analyzes the long-term viability of small refineries of theregion from a technical and financial point of view.
