The report provides a background to the issue of vehicle technology by overviewing vehicle emissions and control strategies, factors influencing emissions and the impact of legislation on emission levels. It also summarizes vehicle technology development by reviewing emissions and technology associated with various engine types and by illustrating emission control technologies for a range of vehicle types. Vehicle technology is examined in some detail with emphasis on emission control. Tables with worldwide vehicle emissions standards can be found in the Report. The reader will also find tables with vehicle fuel specifications and how they affect or influence or are influenced by engine technology issues, and their impact on environmental issues (emissions).
