ARPEL participated in the launch of DRIVE (Diagnosis, Investment Roadmaps, Project Development and Energy Transformation), a regional initiative led by the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) aimed at supporting National Oil Companies (NOCs) in Latin America and the Caribbean in developing projects related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and methane emissions reduction, while facilitating their access to climate and development financing.
As part of this initiative, ARPEL signed a Joint Declaration, together with the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and the Global Methane Hub (GMH), in support of the strategic transformation of the region’s NOCs.
According to OLACDE at the launch, DRIVE seeks to support these companies from the identification of transformation opportunities through to the structuring, financing, and implementation of projects, bringing together technical capabilities, strategic partners, and sources of climate, concessional, and development financing.
ARPEL’s participation reinforces the work the Association has been carrying out in climate change and energy transition for more than twenty years. Through its business network and technical forums, ARPEL promotes tools, training, and the exchange of experiences in methane emissions management, carbon markets and accounting, climate risks, and just energy transitions, helping turn the sector’s decarbonization objectives into concrete projects and actions.
This initiative also highlights the value of joint efforts among the various stakeholders in the energy sector. Through their respective roles, OLACDE and ARPEL foster dialogue between governments and companies, which is essential to optimizing energy development and advancing regional integration.
