IOGP and Arpel sign a cooperation agreement to promote decarbonization and foster a safety culture in companies

On May 1, within the framework of the IOGP Summit held in Houston, Texas, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Arpel and IOGP, a renowned global organization with extensive experience in safety, health and environment.

The agreement was signed by representatives of both associations: Graham Henley, CEO of IOGP, and Carlos Garibaldi, Executive Secretary of Arpel.

Under this alliance, IOGP and Arpel become partner associations, which will allow for further ramp up cooperative efforts.

“Our focus will include supporting companies in decarbonizing their operations, processes, facilities, and equipment by reducing harmful emissions, whilst maintaining and enhancing a strong safety environment,” said Henley.

For his part, Garibaldi addressed the urgent need to abate methane leaks, address the topics of venting and flaring, and accelerate digital transformation and energy efficiency in the oil and gas sector.

As part of the IOGP Summit agenda, Garibaldi was part of the panel titled "State of the Americas – Navigating New Realities," alongside Ed Crooks, Vice-Chair of the Americas at Wood Mackenzie; Mason Hamilton, Vice President of Economics and Research at API; and Kenneth Mediock, Senior Director of the Center for Energy Studies at the Baker Institute.

IOGP is a global organization that represents the interests of the oil and gas industry. Established in 1974, IOGP´s mission is to promote safe, responsible, and sustainable operations within the oil and gas sector.
