With Staatsolie as the host company, the fifth edition of SEOGS 2025 (Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition) was held from June 17 to 20 in Paramaribo.
Carlos Garibaldi, Executive Secretary of Arpel, took part in the panel titled "Emerging Supply Provinces – Gas Options?", which featured the participation of Chan Tuck Leong of Petronas; Jesús Bronchalo of Fulcrum LNG; Carlos Siso of Honeywell, and Candance Subero-Bailey of NGC.
The session was moderated by Elizabeth Komiskey, Senior Manager Americas at IOGP.
In his remarks, Garibaldi focused on mentioning the opportunities for natural gas in our region, by stressing its current scale and utilization and its incremental potential. Via pipeline, LNG. FLNG or Modular LNG, it can be an integration tool to expand its relative weight in our primary matrix, by increasing its roles in urban, long-distance and fluvial/littoral transportation, in residential and industrial consumption, and in providing an uninterruptible basis to renewable energies.
“Natural gas can leverage energy transitions, play a pivotal role in regional energy security and further improve the cleanest primary energy matrix in the planet. Besides, given our vast natural gas resources, exportable surpluses may help reduce the incidence of coal in other primary matrices,” stated Garibaldi.
