In addition to providing institutional support and forming the Organizing Committee, Arpel participated in the agenda of the IBP Natural Gas Seminar 2025, held on May 14 and 15 in Rio de Janeiro.
The event brought together key players in the production chain to debate strategic challenges and discuss trends shaping the future of the natural gas industry, seeking innovative solutions for the comprehensive development of this segment.
Carlos Garibaldi, Executive Secretary of Arpel, composed the panel entitled "Road to COP30: Natural Gas as a base fuel for a just, balanced, and safety energy transition," along with Christopher Gonçalves of BRG Energy & Climate; Luiz Eduardo Barata of the National Front of Energy Consumers; and Viviana Coelho of Petrobras. The moderation was in charge of Heloísa Borges of EPE.
“Over the past 25 years, demand for natural gas has surged by 80%, to the point where it now meets almost a quarter of the world's energy needs. Its success lies in the scale of global resources, its low production costs, safety, ease of storage and transport, affordability and comparative environmental advantages,” Garibaldi stated during his intervention at the panel.
He added: “Gas can offer Latin America and the Caribbean energy security, an even cleaner primary matrix, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and exportable surpluses that may help reduce the incidence of coal in other primary matrices.” He also maintained that “we must vigorously address venting, flaring, and methane leaks from our value chain.”
Pablo Ferragut, Managing Director of Arpel, represented Arpel on the Organizing Committee of the 21st IBP Natural Gas Seminar.
