Natural Gas Stakeholder´s Dialogue series

Latin America and the Caribbean

Introduction

The Natural Gas Stakeholders’ Dialogue Series is a platform for discussing the most relevant natural gas issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. It aims at finding the optimal pathways for natural gas development and creating understanding among key energy stakeholders in the region.

WHY ATTEND

• Be part of the most current dialogue event on natural gas role in the region’s energy systems
• Contribute to shape a White Paper summarizing the key opportunities for natural gas development to build sustainable energy systems
• Interact and network with key stakeholders

WHITE PAPER

The Stakeholders' Dialogue will be a key milestone in the elaboration of a White Paper on the opportunities for the development of natural gas in Latin America and the Caribbean. This document aims to establish a common, pragmatic, and coherent narrative for natural gas as a key enabler of sustainable energy systems and social development in the region.

This White Paper is a sequel to the document "Natural Gas in the Transition to Low-Carbon Economies – The Case for Latin America and the Caribbean," which was issued in 2023 as a joint effort among IGU, ARPEL, OLADE and counted on the support of the national gas associations of the region and other key stakeholders. This first document
established a broad understanding of the role of natural gas in the region; it made a significant impact, and was presented in diverse fora around the globe as a contribution to the international energy dialogue

Thematic scope

• General overview of Natural Gas markets, policies and development opportunities in the region.
• Regional integration opportunities in the Southern Cone.
• Natural gas for heavy transport.
• Natural gas as a backup for renewable energy
development.
• LNG development opportunities for exports and
energy security.
• Energy poverty and the vital role of natural gas.
• Tackling the methane emissions challenge.

Target Audience

AUDIENCE

• Executives, high-level representatives and experts from Oil and Gas Companies, International Organizations, Multilateral
Development Banks, Industry Associations, Governments, and Academia.
