  Bob Fryklund is the Chief Upstream Strategist at S&P Global Commodity Insights. Bob has over 40 years of experience working for majors, independents, and consultancies, with more than half of that in executive leadership roles. He focuses on advising companies, boards and leadership teams on areas that lead to high impact value creation – portfolio’s , IPO’s, restructuring, M&A.

  He is globally recognized expert on Upstream and won the AAPG Presidents award for his Thought Leadership. A frequent keynote speaker for both public and private events, he is also a well known moderator and media source.

  Bob gives back to the industry via mentoring women leaders and he also sits on multiple industry boards- ARPEL, AAPG CAB, AAPG Trustee Associate. He holds an AB in Geology from Hamilton College and resides in Houston, Texas.

  Rodrigo is currently Director of Latin America in the S&P Global Commodity Insights Upstream Research business. He has 22+ years of experience in the Energy Industry.

  Prior to joining S&P Global (f.k.a IHS Markit) in 2011, Rodrigo was Manager at Accenture Management Consulting responsible for BD and project management at the O&G business line for 8 years. Prior to Accenture, he worked on the Brazilian Nuclear Quality Institute (IBQN) for 4 years, responsible for consulting projects and quality auditing at Nuclear Energy sector in Brazil.

  Rodrigo holds a graduation degree in Civil / Industrial Engineering from the PUC-RJ University, an MBA in Management from FGV-RJ University and a Post-Graduation in Energy Industry Economics from COPPEAD/UFRJ University.   Felipe Perez, a Research Director for Oil Markets, Midstream and Downstream Energy and Latin America Downstream Strategist at S&P Global Commodity Insights, focuses on the connectivity between North and Latin America's refining sectors.

  Felipe has more than fifteen years of international consulting experience in the oil and gas industries, particularly in Latin America's refining sector. He is also responsible for US West Coast (PADD 5) downstream research and analysis. His expertise includes assisting clients with operational performance improvement, market and configuration studies, as well as strategic initiatives. He has been a speaker and advisor to the main congresses and conferences in the region. Prior to joining S&P Global, he was a senior executive consultant at KBC Advanced Technologies Inc., performing energy efficiency projects, on-site technical support for oil refineries and business development in Latin America.

  Felipe holds a Chemical Engineering Bachelor of Science from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Master of Science from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He is based in Los Angeles, California, US, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

  David Crisostomo is a Director for the Latin America Climate and Sustainability team at S&P Global Commodity Insights.

  He is an expert in the Mexican gas and power markets with prior experience in Andean power markets as well. His research and analysis include gas and electricity market fundamentals, modelling, regulatory framework analysis and implications for business opportunities. Mr. Crisostomo’s research has included natural gas transportation studies, distributed power potential in Mexico and Latin America, power generation and transmission investment opportunities, asset valuations, and the analysis of operational and investment strategies for utilities, financial institutions and other market participants.

  Before joining IHS Markit (S&P Global Commodity Insights) in 2011, he was at Iberdrola Spain, where he developed a power dispatch tool for the Spanish market, and prior to Iberdrola, he worked at ABB.

  Marcela Rosas is a Director for the Latin America Gas, Power and Climate Solutions practice. She is an expert in fundamental analysis and outlooks for the largest natural gas markets in the Americas, including scenario development. Her experience includes running gas simulation models that provide balanced market projections for gas demand, pipeline flows (and prices in the case of the United States and Canada). She has covered the North American gas markets, and currently covers the Andean Region and Southern Cone markets.

  Ms. Rosas has contributed regularly to service reports for Global gas and LNG services, to consulting projects and studies. Her research has included reports on the drivers of natural gas price volatility and fundamentals, on LNG arbitrage between markets in the Pacific and the Atlantic Basins, on North American LNG exports, on the effect of global gas prices on different markets, and more recently on the potential for Argentina gas to reach Brazil.

  Ms. Rosas’ past professional experience includes project logistics, bidding, and sales for the pipeline inspection industry. She holds a BA from Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology and an MS from the Colorado School of Mines and the French Petroleum Institute

  Emanuel Simon is a Director of the Latin America Power and Renewables team at S&P Global Commodity Insights. He has more than 15 years of experience in energy markets in Latin America, with roles spanning from lead project engineer to market advisor in the power sector.

  Prior to joining S&P Global, Simon was with Siemens, where he worked with engineering design for the power sector, the oil and gas industry, and energy efficiency projects. He also held a position as a business development engineer, responsible for pursuing new business initiatives across the company’s portfolio of products and services.

  Simon holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Santa Catarina, has completed postgraduate studies in engineering at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and holds a Master of Science from UFRJ.

  Francisco J. Monaldi, Ph.D., is the Wallace S. Wilson Fellow in Latin American Energy Policy and director of the Latin America Energy Program at the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

  He is also a fellow at the Center for the United States and Mexico, a lecturer in energy economics at Rice University’s Department of Economics, and a lecturer in energy management at the Jones Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the International Faculty at IESA School of Management in Venezuela and Panama, where he was a professor and the founding director of the Center for Energy and the Environment. He is a nonresident fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University.

  He is a member of the International Advisory Council of Global Americans, the Venezuela Solutions Group of the Atlantic Council, and the Education Advisory Board of the Association of International Energy Negotiators.

  Gabriel Collins is the Baker Botts Fellow in Energy and Environmental Regulatory Affairs at the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy and a senior visiting research fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. At the Baker Institute, he co-heads the Program on Energy and Geopolitics in Eurasia. He is also a water-energy nexus thrust leader at Rice University’s WaTER Institute and an editor at the Texas Water Journal.

  Collins’ research focuses on energy, food, water, national security, and multiple points of intersection between these issues. His work is regularly published in high-impact outlets such as Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the Naval War College Review, and the Baker Institute.   Collins received his B.A. from Princeton University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He was a member of the U.S. Naval War College’s China Maritime Studies Institute team and is still teased by his family for joining a commodity hedge fund right before the 2008 market crash. Collins is a Permian Basin native, reads Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish.

  Jim Krane, Ph.D., is the Diana Tamari Sabbagh Fellow in Middle East Energy Studies and co-director of the Middle East Energy Roundtable at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. He specializes in energy geopolitics, with a focus on oil-exporting countries and the challenges they face from climate action, the energy transition, energy subsidies, and internal demand. He teaches classes on energy policy and geopolitics at Rice University.

  Krane’s scholarly articles have been published in Nature Energy, Middle East Journal, Foreign Affairs, Energy Policy, Energy Journal, Energy Research & Social Science, Resources Policy, Georgetown Journal of International Affairs, MRS Energy and Sustainability, the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, as well as numerous edited volumes.

  He is the author of two books: “City of Gold: Dubai and the Dream of Capitalism” and “Energy Kingdoms: Oil and Political Survival in the Persic Gulf".

  Rachel A. Meidl, LP.D., CHMM, is the fellow in energy and sustainability and the deputy director of the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute. She also serves as a strategic advisor on circular economy for MSCI, Inc. Her research focuses on sustainability, circular economy, life cycle management, and understanding the environmental, economic, and social impacts across energy and material supply chains. 

  Meidl was previously appointed deputy associate administrator for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Prior to her government service, she was director of regulatory and technical affairs at the American Chemistry Council. She has 28 years of experience in industry, academia, government, finance, and international relations.

  Meidl is a certified hazardous materials manager, and holds a bachelor’s degree in conservation biology and zoology and animal physiology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a master’s in environmental policy and management, and a master’s in applied science and technology.
